Biocoenose

Biocoenose
Biocoenose, Lebensgemeinschaft, Gemeinschaft von Individuen aller Arten, die in einem bestimmten Gebiet (⇒ Biotop) leben, in Wechselwirkung zueinander und zu ihrer Umwelt stehen und ein zur Selbstregulation fähiges System darstellen. Der Begriff B. wurde 1877 von Karl August Möbius am Beispiel der Austernbank entwickelt. Zusammen mit der abiotischen Umwelt bildet die B. das Ökosystem. Da sich bei Artenreichtum einer B. der Ausfall einer Art wenig auswirkt und da wegen vieler konkurrierender Arten eine einzelne Art nicht so leicht überhand nehmen kann, gilt die Regel: Artenreiche B. sind weniger störanfällig als artenarme. Dies gilt nicht für B., in denen viele Arten mit enger ⇒ ökologischer Potenz leben. Hier können sich schon relativ geringe Veränderungen stark auswirken und das Gleichgewicht des Systems stören (z.B. tropischer Regenwald).
