Hydrozoa
Hydrozoa, Klasse der Cnidaria mit etwa 2700 Arten, die einzeln oder in Kolonien leben und zumeist einen Generationswechsel zwischen Polyp und Meduse zeigen. Die Medusen bilden am Schirmrand eine nach innen gerichtete Falte (Velum). Man unterscheidet drei Ordnungen: 1. Hydroidea mit dem Süßwasserpolypen Hydra; 2. Trachylina; 3. Siphonophora, Staatsquallen, mit ausgeprägtem Polymorphismus der Polypen.
